[San Francisco, California] G6 Hospitality, which manages the Studio 6 and Motel 6 brands, is facing allegations of being complicit in sex trafficking activities in one of its California locations. The hotel chain sex trafficking claims stem from a 2022 complaint by a woman identified as B.J., who alleges she was a victim of trafficking at several hotel chains in the state between 2012 and 2016.
B.J.’s complaint describes a chilling scenario where she was openly abused, stating it was “open and obvious” and that the hotel staff were aware but chose inaction. She also accuses G6 and other prominent hotel chains, including Hilton, Choice Hotels, and Marriott, of knowingly benefitting from her ordeal.
While major hotel chains like Marriott, Choice, and Hilton were successful in moving to dismiss the claims, U.S. Senior District Judge Maxine Chesney ruled that G6 Hospitality must face these accusations. Chesney’s decision was influenced by allegations suggesting the manager of a Studio 6 in Concord was directly involved in B.J.’s trafficking.
According to B.J., the said manager not only conspired with her trafficker but also stepped in to sell her for commercial sex. The complaint also delves into claims that the hotel staff at the Studio 6 Concord turned a blind eye to her evident signs of abuse, pointing toward a deeper issue within the chain.
