Pomona Motel Incident Leads to Human Trafficking Arrest

Pomona, California — A 39-year-old Houston man has been charged with human trafficking following an incident at a Motel 6 in Pomona, police reported.

The arrest occurred on December 17, when officers responded to a disturbance at the motel on S. Garey Avenue. The victim informed authorities of an altercation and identified the suspect, Nicholas Wells, along with his vehicle. Police located and detained him nearby. Preliminary statements from the victim revealed she was a victim of human trafficking, prompting the Sexual Exploitation and Trafficking Team (SETT) to take over the case.

After an extensive investigation, Wells was charged with human trafficking on December 19. The Pomona Police Department stated that combating human trafficking and prostitution, particularly along Holt Avenue, remains a priority.

The victim received immediate support services and was reunited with her family out of state. The case was referred to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office for further action.
