CALIFORNIA – The recent arrest of a convicted felon has shaken Anaheim’s peace. 36-year-old Marcus Boyd, a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada, has been arrested on suspicion of trafficking a 14-year-old girl.
On July 9, authorities received an alarming tip about a 14-year-old girl who was being sexually exploited. The minor was located in Anaheim, triggering a swift investigation by detectives.
Marcus Boyd was quickly identified as the prime suspect. Law enforcement officers spotted him driving that same day, but Boyd refused to stop, setting off a dangerous chase.
In a desperate attempt to escape, Boyd left his vehicle and fled on foot, but was finally captured and taken to custody time after.
On 11 July, Boyd was formally charged with a number of felonies, including:
- Sex trafficking of a minor
- Prostitution of a minor under 16 years of age
- Possession of a silencer
- Evasion of a police officer
- Resisting and obstructing a police officer
Although Boyd’s prior criminal record has not been publicly disclosed, his arrest was the result of intensive collaboration between several agencies, including the Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force (OCHTTF).
Boyd will remain in custody and is being held on a bond of $1 Million.
