[Los Angeles, California] Tim Ballard, founder of the anti-child slavery organization Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R) and the inspiration behind the movie Sound of Freedom, is embroiled in a scandal involving accusations of sexual harassment during missions meant to combat hotel chain sex trafficking.
According to an exposé by Vice News, Ballard’s heroic image was tainted when he unexpectedly resigned from O.U.R in June. This departure followed the launch of an internal investigation probing allegations that Ballard pressured female members of his team to act as his “wife” during undercover operations, forcing them into compromising situations for the sake of maintaining their cover. Among the allegations, Ballard reportedly sent explicit photos to one woman, pushing boundaries under the guise of the mission’s objectives.
Although his departure was publicly noted, the specifics surrounding his resignation remained undisclosed. Ballard’s silence was eventually broken when he addressed a Boston crowd, denying all allegations, stating, “It’s not true, nothing you hear is true.”
Adding another layer of controversy to the Tim Ballard sexual harassment issue, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released a statement alleging that Ballard had taken advantage of his association with Mormon elder M. Russell Ballard for personal benefit. Tim Ballard rebuffed these claims, emphasizing his deep respect for President Ballard.
O.U.R has publicly distanced itself from Tim Ballard and has hired an independent law firm to conduct an in-depth investigation into the allegations, vowing to uphold the highest standards in its operations.
