Two Rochester Residents Indicted in Henrietta Microtel Sex Trafficking Case

A shocking incident in Henrietta in early July has resulted in a pair facing serious charges related to sex trafficking. The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that Cordell L. Brooks and Shuntiayana Sims, both 27-year-old residents of Rochester, have been indicted in connection with the harrowing case.

According to Deputy Brendan Hurley of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the alleged kidnapping occurred around 5:45 a.m. at the Microtel Inn on Lehigh Station Road. The suspects reportedly dragged a woman from the hotel lobby and forced her into a vehicle in the parking lot. Nine hours later, all three individuals were located in a vehicle in Rochester.

The indictment charged Brooks and Sims with sex trafficking, second-degree promoting prostitution, second-degree kidnapping, and second-degree assault — felonies that carry severe penalties.

The accused will face arraignment in either Monroe County or the state Supreme Court. Both Brooks and Sims are currently held in Monroe County Jail, with bail set at $100,000 cash or $250,000 bond.

Investigator Sgt. Dave Bolton revealed that the victim, whose identity remains protected, was allegedly being trafficked or prostituted by the accused duo. She had recently arrived in the Rochester area and had reportedly been involved with Brooks and Sims for several months.

Disturbing surveillance footage captured one woman forcibly removing another from the hotel lobby, leading to a physical altercation. Despite the victim’s desperate attempt to stay inside, she was dragged outside and carried to the waiting vehicle. Following police intervention, the victim received medical treatment at an area hospital.
