Salinas, California – Salinas police have cracked down on a human trafficking network in an operation that led to the arrest of suspects and the rescue of underage victims.
In a swift move, Salinas police acted on information from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on May 22, 2024, uncovering possible human trafficking activity in the Kern Street area.
The police intervention resulted in the immediate rescue of an underage victim and the apprehension of two individuals suspected of being involved in the nefarious business of human trafficking. Cordarryl Steen, 37, was arrested as he exited a local hotel, while Sade Williams, 23, was found with the victim in a hotel room.
Police proceeded to incarcerate Steen and Williams in the Monterey County Jail on charges of human trafficking. Meanwhile, the victim was handed over to the Monterey County Child Protective Services for custody and care.
In a further twist of events, patrol officers responded to a second human trafficking-related call later that same night. Another underage victim claimed to have escaped from a hotel where she was forced to work in inhumane conditions.
Law enforcement officers, in swift action, rescued the victim and apprehended two individuals connected to this second incident. Rory Johnson, 21, and Jessica Clamucha, 20, face charges of human trafficking and are detained in the Monterey County Jail.
