Oakland Man Charged With Sex Trafficking After Responding to Babysitting Ad

In a chilling tale of online interactions gone awry, an Oakland man’s response to a babysitting ad led to horrifying consequences. The man, identified as 30-year-old Lennard Davis, faces charges of human trafficking, child molestation, assault, and child pornography after allegedly abusing and trafficking three teen girls, ages 13 to 15.

The incident came to light when an Oakland patrol officer responded to distressed teen girls being chased by a man on July 11. Though the man fled, a subsequent investigation revealed that he had allegedly been keeping the girls captive, planning to exploit them for sex work in Las Vegas.

Davis had reportedly hired two of the girls as babysitters—one from a children’s shelter and the other through social media. The latter victim allegedly suffered sexual abuse, forced prostitution, and threats against her family’s safety.

The alleged Oakland sex trafficking crimes were exposed due to the girls’ escape on July 11, prompted by a citizen’s intervention. Authorities seized Davis’ phone, uncovering text messages and videos depicting sexual abuse, leading to his arrest on August 11.
