LA Man Attempted to Lure Women into Sex Trafficking Ring

Denver, Colorado — A 48-year-old man from Los Angeles, Murlin Swanston, has been arrested for allegedly attempting to recruit two women from metro Denver into a sex trafficking ring. California fugitive agents made the arrest with the assistance of Denver investigators, the Denver District Attorney’s office announced on Monday.

According to investigators, Swanston had been reaching out to thousands of women, especially sex workers, online since 2021. He used social media and text messages to attempt to involve them in his illegal sex trafficking operation.

Swanston’s arrest took place in California, where he is currently being held. He is awaiting extradition to Colorado to face charges, though a date for the extradition has not yet been set.

Prosecutors believe there may be additional victims in the Denver metro area and are urging any individuals affected by Swanston’s actions to come forward. Investigators are particularly seeking information from those who may have been contacted by him.

Victims are encouraged to reach out to Investigator Joe DeAngelo at the District Attorney’s human trafficking unit for assistance at 720-913-9108.
