Human Trafficking Arrests Made in Santa Clara County Case

San Jose, California — Following an investigation that originated in November 2024, authorities in Santa Clara County apprehended two 17-year-old males on suspicion of human trafficking involving two teenage girls. The San Jose Police Department announced the arrests on Thursday but did not release the suspects’ identities due to their age.

According to police reports, one suspect resides in Morgan Hill, while the other is from San Martin. The inquiry into human trafficking began after officers responded to a battery incident at Silver Leaf Park in November. During that event, a 14-year-old girl involved in an altercation with a 16-year-old girl was reportedly pepper-sprayed by an unidentified male and received hospital treatment for non-critical injuries.

Subsequent investigation revealed that both girls were victims of human trafficking. Detectives identified the two teenage suspects in January, leading to the issuance of arrest warrants. The first suspect was taken into custody in Morgan Hill on February 26 by human trafficking task force detectives. The second individual was apprehended in San Martin on March 31. Both were subsequently booked into the Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall.

The San Jose Police Department’s Human Trafficking Task Force urges anyone with information related to this case to contact the task force via email at 4435@sanjoseca.gov or (408) 537-1224. Anonymous reports are also accepted.
