Georgia Hotel Manager Pleads Guilty to Sex Trafficking Employee

The manager of a Cartersville hotel, Shreesh Tiwari, has pleaded guilty to trafficking one of his employees at the Budgetel Motel. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation revealed that Tiwari took advantage of the victim’s vulnerable situation, exploiting her for his own gain.

The victim, who had endured homelessness, battled a heroin addiction, and lost custody of her young child, was promised assistance by Tiwari in regaining custody. However, instead of fulfilling his promises, Tiwari subjected her to a horrifying ordeal.

According to the GBI, Tiwari closely monitored the victim’s interactions with guests, prohibited her from engaging with them, frequently evicted her from her room, and coerced her into performing oral sex in exchange for a place to stay. He even resorted to threatening to report her drug use to law enforcement, intensifying her vulnerability and fear.

Recognizing the severity of the crimes committed, Tiwari has agreed to pay $40,000 in restitution. Nevertheless, he now faces the prospect of a further 20 years behind bars and a hefty fine of $250,000.

Scheduled for sentencing on September 6, the consequences for Tiwari may provide a small measure of justice for the victim. However, this hotel manager sex trafficking case highlights the urgent need to support and protect victims of sex trafficking.
