SAN DIEGO, California — After five years on the run, Michael James Pratt, the alleged mastermind of the GirlsDoPorn sex trafficking ring, has been brought back to U.S. soil in federal custody on April 6th, 2024. Pratt vanished in 2019 before facing federal conspiracy and sex trafficking charges related to a scheme exploiting hundreds of young women. His return coincided with the sentencing of his former associate, Matthew Isaac Wolfe, in a San Diego federal court.
Pratt, who had been on the FBI’s most-wanted list, was apprehended in Spain in December 2022. Five of his indicted accomplices have already pleaded guilty, with Pratt identified as the leader. However, despite the extradition, Pratt’s case remains unresolved. While co-defendants have accepted plea deals, Pratt maintains his innocence. His lawyer declined to comment.
The GirlsDoPorn operation targeted vulnerable young women, enticing them with false promises of modeling jobs before coercing them into filming explicit content. Victims endured harrowing experiences, including coercion, assault, and threats.
Pratt faces numerous charges, including sex trafficking and producing child pornography. Nevertheless, concerns linger about potential victim-blaming during his trial. As Pratt’s case progresses, the victims and their advocates hope for justice after enduring years of suffering and exploitation.
