San Bernardino, California — A coordinated five-day operation targeting human trafficking and prostitution across San Bernardino County has led to 32 arrests, according to local law enforcement authorities.
Dubbed Operation Disrupt the Demand, the effort was led by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Gangs/Narcotics Division. It included support from the San Bernardino Police Department, California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino County Probation Department, the FBI, and local advocacy groups.
The operation aimed to reduce sex trafficking by identifying victims, apprehending traffickers, and targeting individuals soliciting sex. Authorities arrested:
- 28 individuals for soliciting prostitution
- 1 individual for soliciting a minor
- 3 individuals on charges of pimping and pandering
Three victims of human trafficking were located and connected with support services.
Human trafficking investigators remain dedicated to reducing future demand by identifying people who solicit sex and rescuing those forced into exploitation, according to the sheriff’s department. Sheriff Shannon Dicus also praised the operation, highlighting that these crimes target vulnerable individuals and cause lasting harm, but will not be tolerated under their watch.
