Oakland, California — Sidney King, a 35-year-old resident of Fairfield, has been sentenced to eight years in prison following a plea deal in a human trafficking case. The plea deal also mandates that King register as a sex offender for life and adhere to a 10-year restraining order from the victims, court documents reveal.
The charges against King stem from a 2020 operation in Oakland’s notorious “The Blade,” a high-prostitution area on International Boulevard.
During the sting, police arrested a 26-year-old woman suspected of prostitution and detained a 15-year-old girl who identified King, known as “SK,” as her trafficker.
Further investigation led to King’s identification by Alameda County prosecutors and the discovery of additional victims.
In 2021, King was formally charged with human trafficking. Although a related case involving the 26-year-old woman was dismissed recently, her attorney argued that she, too, was a trafficking victim.
During King’s preliminary hearing in 2022, two victims testified against him. One recounted meeting King at 15 and being coerced into prostitution, while the other described similar abuse starting at age 18. King pleaded no contest on August 7 and is pending formal sentencing.
