San Diego, California — A major human trafficking operation known as “Operation Coast to Coast” resulted in 74 arrests and the recovery of 98 victims across 19 states. The California Department of Justice reported that coordinated efforts occurred in San Diego and Sacramento.
The coordinated effort, conducted on May 29, involved over 150 law enforcement agencies, nonprofit groups, and corporate partners. In California, six suspects were arrested, and one juvenile victim was rescued.
Key outcomes of the operation:
- 74 individuals arrested for suspected human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and related offenses
- 98 individuals offered access to critical services
- Over $1.14 million recovered, along with seven firearms
- Survivor support included housing, counseling, drug treatment, and childcare
Attorney General Rob Bonta emphasized the importance of a trauma-informed, culturally competent approach. He stated that agents are specially trained to handle sensitive cases with the compassion they require.
The operation was supported by the San Diego and Sacramento Human Trafficking Task Forces, which include federal, state, and local agencies.
