Pomona, California – A 30-year-old California man was arrested for soliciting sexual services while his 8-month-old son remained in the back seat of his car.
The arrest was made as part of an anti-sex trafficking operation on East Holt Avenue, according to the Pomona Police Department.
During the arrest, police found the baby lying in the back seat of the vehicle. The Department of Children and Family Services took custody of the child while the father cooperated with the investigation.
The man, identified by the police as a “sex buyer,””, faces charges of prostitution and child endangerment.
The operation against human trafficking and child exploitation was carried out by more than 95 federal, state, and local agencies. Los Angeles Sheriff, Robert Luna, announced that 539 arrests were made.
Among those arrested, 40 were suspected sex traffickers or exploiters, and 271 were suspected buyers of sex. One of the most notable operations took place on Holt Avenue in Pomona, where an undercover “sex buyer” operation led to the arrest of 12 men, including two registered sex offenders, on suspicion of soliciting prostitution.
The arrest in Pomona is just one example of the many cases of human trafficking occurring daily in California and around the world.
In January of this year, the tenth Operation Reclaim and Rebuild resulted in over 500 arrests and the rescue of dozens of individuals, including children, across the state. The cooperation of victims and the decisive actions of authorities are crucial to eradicating this crime and ensuring a safe future for everyone.
