Sex Trafficking a Minor: California Resident Charged

Boston — Ibrahim Abdul-Alim Bin Hajj Yahya Abdul-Malik, 37, of San Jose, California, has been apprehended and charged with sex trafficking a minor. The arrest follows an investigation into the exploitation of a 17-year-old previously reported missing from Ohio in August 2024.

On December 11, 2024, authorities in Boston detected online advertisements offering minors for commercial sexual activity. Undercover officers responded to the advertisements and located the victim at a Cambridge hotel, seizing her mobile phone.

Subsequent investigation revealed that, around November 13, 2024, Malik allegedly began trafficking the victim across state lines, posting advertisements on various websites. The victim’s listed age was falsely increased to 20 to evade detection.

Examination of the victim’s phone allegedly showed messages from Malik regarding commercial sex acts. He reportedly directed payments to a Zelle account under his control, retaining all proceeds. Following the December 11 operation, Malik allegedly fled to San Jose.

He was arrested on March 10, 2025, and made an initial court appearance in the Northern District of California. He will face further proceedings in Boston. The charge carries a minimum 10-year prison sentence, with potential for life imprisonment.
