El Dorado County, California — A man received a 16-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to human trafficking of a minor and possession of child pornography. Joshua Caleb Black’s sentencing occurred Friday, following an investigation by the El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office.
Black, who had a prior strike conviction in San Joaquin County for negligent firearm discharge with a gang enhancement, was on parole when the offense occurred. In December 2023, he traveled from the Bay Area to El Dorado County. He intended to retrieve a minor from a group home and transport her back to the Bay Area, where he planned to exploit her.
Law enforcement intervened shortly after Black took custody of the child, preventing further harm. The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office and Deputy District Attorney Kassie Cardullo handled the prosecution. The quick action by authorities ensured the minor’s safety and resulted in Black’s conviction.
